Opportunities. Volunteers can be involved in organizing branch events
and/or as part of the strategic implementation team of the branch.

NASW-AZ Volunteer Opportunities (Links to more information)
Time Limited Opportunities - SWR cards – Have 5 friends fill them out and send them in to support SWR. (Approximate Time Commitment -- 1 to 2 hours)
- Organize
social events for members in the community (ie. NASW group walking in
the “Race for the Cure” or the “Hike for the Homeless”. (Approximate Time Commitment -- 1 to 2 hours prep plus the time at the event)
- Help plan the SW Month Awards Events in March. (Approximate Time Commitment -- 2 to 4 hours depending on tasks)
- Host or attend an NASW-AZ Leadership Circle, which is a CE Event with a focus on leadership -- (Approximate Time Commitment -- 2 to 3 hours plus time at the actual event)
- Host CE Series workshop. (Approximate Time Commitment -- 8:15 am to 4:15 pm on the date of the event plus picking up workshop materials from the office prior to the workshop)
- Present a one-hour webinar about a topic in which you are knowledgeable. (Approximate Time Commitment -- 2 to 4 hours depending on the amount of work needed for the powerpoint presentation -- if you have a workhshop you have already presented, the time will be much less)
- Attend Social Work Day at the Legislature and mentor students. (Approximate Time Commitment -- 3 hours on the day of the event)
- Volunteer for PACE Committee (Approximate Time Commitment -- Time requirement is sporadic with the timing of the election cycle requiring more work in the year of an election and less work on alternate years)
- Volunteer for campaigns of candidates. (Approximate Time Commitment -- Depends on how much time you want to volunteer)
- Be an “issue liaison” for an issue that you are knowledgeable about. (Approximate Time Commitment -- 1 hours per year)
- Present (using a prepared powerpoint presentation with notes) to social work students about NASW (Approximate Time Commitment -- 2 to 3 hours depending on drive time to presentation)
- Present

and social work departments about becoming members of NASW. (Approximate Time Commitment -- 2 to 3 hours depending on drive time to presentation)
- Distribute Social Work Reinvestment Materials to employers/colleagues/agencies. (Approximate Time Commitment -- 15 minutes when you see colleagues)

- Serve in an elected capacity on a branch steering committee (branch 1 and 2) (Approximate Time Commitment -- 1 hour per month)
- Serve in an elected capacity on the board of directors (Approximate Time Commitment -- 1 to 2 hours per month reading emails and 3 hours for meetings every other month)
- Serve in an elected capacity on the nominations committee (Approximate Time Commitment -- 1 to 2 hours per month during the months of September - February)
Micro Volunteer Opportunities Does this sound like too big of a commitment???? There are other small things that you can do to help NASW. - Get your CEU’s through the NASW CE series and invite your colleagues and friends along. If you have to get CEU’s, you might as well do so while supporting your professional association.
